This image was taken on August 14, 2010 at the Rockland Astronomy Summer Star Party,
held at Shady Pines Campground in Savoy, Massachusetts.
This photo was shot with a Canon XSi 12.2 Megapixel DSLR and a Meade 203SC Schmidt Cassegrain
8 inch telescope mounted on a Meade LXD75 computerized mount.
Exposure was 1/30 of a second at f/10, ISO 200, daylight white balance, (true color)
The photo is rotated horizontally to take advantage of widescreen monitors.
It also renders a feeling of what it would look like flying over the surface along
it’s equator from west to east.
Prominent features from left to right are, crater Hercules ( with floor half shaded and a highlight of small crater within ),
crater Atlas above it, deep crater Romer ( with bright highlight on west wall of crater), Mare Crisium,
Mare Tranquillitatis ( Apollo 11 landing site), Mare Fecunditatis, Mare Nectaris ( with ridge line casting a shadow )
and crater Piccolomini ( with peak in floor of crater )
