AstroAssembly 2003

Despite a bit of cold weather Friday night under the tent and a bit of wet weather on Saturday, AstroAssembly 2003 was a success and a good time was had by all. Here are some photos from this year's event.

Antique Telescopes on Display at AstroAssembly 2003

AstroAssembly 2003 was billed as a celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Seagrave Observatory's Alvan Clark telescope. As part of this celebration, Skyscrapers invited some members from the Antique Telescope Society to bring some Old Glass to put on display in the meeting hall during AstroAssembly. Here are some of the fine instruments they brought.

Sunspots During Unusually High Solar Activity

A large group of sunspots has been observed in recent weeks on the earth-facing side of the sun. For more information on late-breaking solar activity, see SpaceWeather.com. This activity has also produced an unusual display of aurora borealis, the Northern Lights.
