Ian will talk about what goes into an observing run at the Blanco 4m telescope, based on experiences and pictures taken over my years of heading to Chile, and compare it with the experience of observing remotely from Providence as travel to the observatory has been impossible. He will also talk a bit about the research program he has been doing on the telescope.
Over the month of October 2021, the Frosty Drew Observatory replaced its aging primary observatory telescope, a 16” Meade LX200 EMC SCT, with a new 24” PlaneWave CDK600. The installation culminated two years of development, planning, grant writing, and site upgrades, bringing Frosty Drew’s mission into its next generation.
We will join the infamous peeptoads and the reappearance of the portable toilet, and return to Seagrave on Saturday, April 9. After four long months away, our April Meeting will celebrate Skyscrapers and Seagrave with a Members Night. It is also our Annual Meeting and Election of Officers.
