Workshop: Choosing and Using Your First Telescope

Saturday, December 2, 2017, 6:00 pm

Seagrave Memorial Observatory

Bob Horton

You’ve always wanted a telescope of your own; or, you’ve gotten one as a gift, or, you'd like to give one as a gift. There are so many options in magazines; how do you choose the right one for you?

Skyscrapers member Bob Horton will introduce you to the basics of buying and taking your new equipment outside and using it to find the beautiful celestial objects waiting to be seen through a telescope. From setting up your equipment, to learning how to find some easy and challenging objects, to care and maintenance of your instrument, Bob will have you learning which telescope is right for you, and enjoying your new hobby, before the night is over.

The event is free and open to the public. Following the presentation, weather-permitting, the telescopes at Seagrave Observatory will be open for viewing.
