Meeting Captain Alan Bean

On June 8, the Skyscrapers had the pleasure of meeting and hearing from Captain Alan Bean, the Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 12, fourth man to walk on the moon, and Commander of Skylab Mission II. Captain Bean was the guest speaker at the annual Celebrity/Scholarship Dinner hosted by the Center for Business Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Stardust Shower in August

Will 2005 be the year we finally break the curse of the clouded out Perseid meteor shower? For more years than I care to remember, despite favorable viewing prospects with a moonless sky, we've had more than our fair share of clouds on the Perseid peak night.

September Astronomy Highlights

Like the last few Septembers, it's too bad we don't have any major astronomical events to take advantage of the improving sky conditions. Fortunately there will be several interesting objects to observe.

Stellafane 2005

An annual tradition for Skyscrapers, several members made the trek to Breezy Hill in Springfield, Vermont for the annual Stellafane Convention.

August Meeting with Nobel Laureate Dr. Robert Wilson

During our August meeting we were honored to have Dr. Robert Wilson, the first Nobel Laureate to visit Skyscrapers. This was a chance of a lifetime to hear from someone firsthand who changed how we look at the universe.

Cub World Star Parties

Skyscrapers hosted star parties for 3 weekends in July/August for the scouts camping at Cub World in Burrillville.
