August Meeting

The speaker is our own Richard Parker, who is also a member of the Astronomical Society of Greater Hartford. Al Hall and Dick completed the restoration of our Alvan Clark telescope in 2010 and are now building 6-inch replicas of the Clark.

Skyscrapers Planning Meeting

This will be a board meeting that all members are encouraged to attend. We are looking for volunteers to help organize and run upcoming events such as AA, Observe the Moon Night, and our fall series of astronomy workshops. We will forgo having an invited speaker this month so that we may take the time to conduct this important business. Weather permitting, we can do some observing afterwards. Members are encouraged to bring their telescopes

The Moon has always been an object of wonder, and on Saturday, September 19th, Skyscrapers, Inc., will join hundreds of observatories around the world in showing the beauty of our nearest celestial neighbor.

Astronomy Workshop: Our Daytime Star – the Sun

Professor Ian Dell’Antonio, of Brown University’s Physics Department, has been observing the sky, both at night and during the day, for many years. He will introduce you to our daytime star demonstrate safe ways it can be observed. For all of you who have always been interested in learning more about our Sun, this is your chance.
